Right off the bat,
Huevos Rancheros show where their roots are, with a reasonably sedate cover of
the Ventures' "Machine Head." They up the volume afterwards, but only a bit. In fact, compared to previous releases,
Muerte del Toro is downright sedate and far more traditional. That's not necessarily a bad thing, although those looking for the revved-up material that previously drew comparisons to
the Reverend Horton Heat and
Man or Astro-Man? may come away disappointed. ~ Sean Carruthers
