On his second record for Asthmatic Kitty, MUSIC FOR TOTAL CHICKENS, Robert Rafter throws so many diverse genres into the mix--all performed with equal expertise--that he makes a mission statement out of Attention Deficit Disorder. He's capable of deconstructing the already deconstructed funk of the Minutemen, referencing BITCHES BREW, and pulling from lo-fi electronica and twee-pop all in the intro to one song. But he's a natural at everything he attempts, and MUSIC FOR TOTAL CHICKENS flows despite its quilted nature.
