Formed in 1992 on the outskirts of Philadelphia, the one-time Catholic school lads known as
Plow United may not have put West Chester on the map during their five-year tenure, but as
Narcolepsy attests, the band did right by punk. Just check the give and take of "Freedom or Security?," which weighs independence with the comforts of working for the man. At the crux, vocalist Brian McGee was an evocative, opinionated, and confrontational sort. A case in point is "Attn: Asshole Re: Records," a missive aimed right at the ponytailed A&R douche bags in force during
Plow's lifetime. But there's enough heartfelt punk, from the
Green Day/
Offspring-inspired "Goodnight Sellout!" to the love-gone-sour roar of "A Beautiful Love Song," to warrant picking this up and looking back on what you missed. Better late than never, boys. ~ John D. Luerssen
