In the fourth and final installment of Steve Aoki’s Neon Future compilation series, the party-starting DJ/producer serves up 27 of his strongest recent hits. Released on his own record label, Dim Mak, the collection spans a broad range of colors, scenes, textures, and tempos, zipping between bubblegum anthems (“I Love My Friends” featuring Icona Pop), Latin dance ballads (“Maldad” with Maluma), and wistful pop serenades boosted by Aoki’s signature playful production (“Let It Be Me” with the Backstreet Boys). The less vocal-heavy songs here feel closer to the hitmaker’s notoriously wild DJ sets; “Closer to God” featuring Kita Sovee and Julien Marchal has a vigorous electric charge that rings of his late-aughts work with the Italian duo Bloody Beetroots, and his Slushii collaboration “One True Love” is pure, pummeling EDM with dizzying synth ladders that ring of his 2013 Chris Lake team-up “Delirious (Boneless).”
