The LP originally released in 1973 was reissued in CD format in the 2 Em 1 series, together with Paulinho da Viola (1978), and now, with the original cover and digitally remastered. In regards to lyrics (which don't rhyme), harmony, melody, and arrangements, the revolutionary "Roendo As Unhas" opened completely new avenues for samba. Cartola ("Não Quero Mais Amar A Ninguém," which had its lyrics awarded by Academia Brasileira de Letras), Wilson Batista, and
Lupicínio Rodrigues. "Choro Negro" became a classic of the choro genre. ~ Alvaro Neder
