It’s clear that Iann Dior is young. Even more so with the release of this second album, I’m Gone, which, with its 9 tracks, should be considered as more of an extended EP by today’s American rap standards. Upon listening, you are plunged into a somewhat vulgar, college-kid atmosphere, a sort of hypothetical original soundtrack for a modern teen movie. While stories of casual love affairs (like on Pretty Girls) can give rise to smiles, one must not forget the texan rappers capacity for selecting often devastating instrumentals, like that on Prospect, featuring Lil Baby. Born into the same generation as Blueface et al, he presents himself in an almost tidy manner, musically stylish like his dress sense. Psycho and Sick and Tires (in duet with Machine Gun Kelly) are proof of this. © Brice Miclet/Qobuz
