Tres-player/composer/arranger Rivera goes way back, to the days of the sextetos, and he was an important part of at least three historic groups: Arcano's Maravillas, the Conjunto Casino and the Orquesta Riverside. This fairly recent recording was a model of how an old hand can stay with his roots while delicately trimming them round the edges to suit changing times.
