ALBUM

Sabertooth has little of the snarl that its name would suggest, but that's not to imply that it's mild.. The band's vivid, lush, sometimes depressive music is too assured and dynamic to ignore. Although singer Nicholas Marshall delivers his lyrics in a breathy near-whisper, it's worth noting that those words often indeed have teeth, as on "Darkest Days" ("It's nice to meet you/ I'll see you in hell"). Also, pedal steel player Jesse Richter and Amanda Lawrence (violin, viola, and cello) help enrich and enliven material that might have otherwise been too claustrophobic.
