Om Lounge. The album doesn't really get warmed up till the halfway point. "Dissolve" is relaxed yet hypnotic, while the male-female duet on J Boogie's "Try Me" is delightfully smooth and seductive.
Soulstice,
Om's most ubiquitous group of downtempo soulsters, appears on this compilation as well, though it's not one of the band's best efforts.
Rithma and
Afro-Mystik also contribute tracks, along with less familiar folks including Michael Tello and Colossus. Lazy and stylish, with plenty of Afro-Cuban influences and soulful vocal stylings, this album is exactly what listeners have come to expect from the
Om Lounge series. It may not reach out and grab you, but neither will it ever push you away. ~ L. Katz
