Jan & Dean shared the same squeaky-clean take on rock & roll as surfing brethren
the Beach Boys, scoring some huge hits with "Surf City" and "The Little Old Lady from Pasadena" before
Jan Berry nearly died in a car wreck ironically not too far from the very "Dead Man's Curve" that had inspired a hit for the band a few years prior. Things slowed down for the act in the late '60s and early '70s, eventually seeing
Jan & Dean estranged, careers going in different directions and each dealing with personal demons.
One Last Ride comes from a 1981 reunion concert held in New York, and includes readings of most of their hits as well as a few unexpected surprise numbers. ~ Fred Thomas
