Released just prior to her leading-role debut in a West End production of The Bodyguard,
Only One in the World is
Heather Headley's fourth album -- her first in three years. Unlike 2009's
Audience of One, a set of contemporary gospel, this is a secular release. There is a handful of new compositions, most of which are delivered with theatrical flair. More of the songs are covers of classics and relatively contemporary hits, including
Ike & Tina Turner's "River Deep Mountain High,"
Karyn White's "Superwoman," and -- naturally -- "Run to You," one of
Whitney Houston's hits from
The Bodyguard. It's an impressive release with grand, larger-than-life performances. ~ Andy Kellman
