With the exception of two selections that add three strings, the music on this set features violinist
Diane Delin in a quartet. All of the songs are hers except for "Swinging On A Star," and most of the music is lightly funky with strong solos from
Delin and pianist Dennis Luxion. The individual selections are less memorable than the improvisations (perhaps the violinist should someday record her take on standards) but
Delin's beautiful sound and the excellent musicianship of the quartet make this a CD well worth picking up.
Michael Arnopol's very active bass keeps the music jumping. Highlights include the jazz waltz "Your Smile," "Midnight Dance/For My Parents" and a catchy rendition of "Swinging On A Star." ~ Scott Yanow
