This solo piano album combines a number of contemporary pop songs with one of
Christopher Peacock's own compositions ("Flows Calmly") as well as two songs by Richard Palalay and some film music. The result is a soothing collection that retreats into the background. By using relatively well-known songs like
Sting's "Fields of Gold" and
Sarah McLachlan's "Angel,"
Peacock infuses his piano playing with nostalgic sentiments that rise up occasionally from the subtle instrumental arrangements. His technique, while not particularly complex or showy, also complements the songs that he has selected. ~ Stacia Proefrock
