Composed of Jonah Jay, Shady Nate, and Stalin himself, Livewire da Gang goes hard over 18 thorough cuts, spitting elevated gangsta lyrics over top-notch production that varies from hard-knockin’ hyphy to smooth-out R&B-infused slow jams. The crew trades vivid street narratives over the dreamy, 1970s funk-inspired “Knockin’ My Beat” and pays homage to their favorite Oakland block over a familiar Bobby Womack sample on “Ten Street.”
