While their definition of punk might leave a bit to be desired, Fearless Records continues to let the artists of today have a crack at the songs of the past on Punk Goes 90's, Vol. 2. Where the originals once dominated the radio waves during the grunge era, this collection finds bands offering up their own take on these '90s gems.
Memphis May Fire transform
Stone Temple Pilots' drifting "Interstate Love Song" into a pounding, post-hardcore anthem, while
Motionless in White and
Asking Alexandria offer up mostly faithful renditions of
Rammstein's "Du Hast" and
Nine Inch Nails' "Closer," providing a nice mix of by-the-book covers and radical reinterpretations. ~ Gregory Heaney
