Eight years after announcing their split, Canadian siblings
the Rankin Family returned to the music scene with their eighth studio album, Reunion, minus founding member John Morris Rankin, who died tragically in 2000. Combining traditional Celtic music, North American folk, and country-rock, the 2007 release includes cover versions of
Gordon Lightfoot's "The Way I Feel" and
John Hiatt's "Gone," alongside two instrumentals performed by John Morris for CBC Radio in the early '90s ("Johnny Cope," "Hillsdale Medley"). Recorded in Nashville, the George Massenburg-produced LP also includes a track written and performed by his daughter, Molly, ("Sunset") and the single, "Sunday Morning." An exclusive tour edition, featuring 12 of the band's '90s hits, was also released. ~ Jon O'Brien
