A leader in the roots reggae sound during the 70s,
The Congos have maintained their basic, uncomplicated sound. However, the emphasis on
Cedric Myton's trilling falsetto delivery makes for a less melodious album than would be expected from a roots reggae act. His high-pitched warbling on the opening track of Enemy & Spy is downright irritating and the mundane sound and lyrics on the rest of the tunes do little to offset this fact. ~ Rosalind Cummings-Yeates
