This is the second entry in the ongoing chronicle of Rockin' Ronnie Weiser's retro rockabilly label of the 1970s, and, as such, holds much in the way of raw listening pleasure for fans of straight-up 1950s rock & roll. Striking a nice balance between rare and unissued '50s tracks that Weiser licensed from other labels (
Jimmy Patton's "Yah! I'm Movin'" and two 1955 winners from
Bob Luman) with "newer" sides cut in the 1970s from the likes of
Ezra Charles,
the Magnetics,
Ray Campi, Cort Murray and
Chuck Higgins, these 20 tracks perfectly illustrate that the music was indeed alive and well during this period.
