Moodie,
Excel, and
Louis Slipperz have been running various Reggae Roast events in London since 2007, and the success of these affairs has led to their own Reggae Roast label, and this is the imprint’s first release. These guys drifted over to reggae from hip-hop and brought that sensibility with them, so what they really do with their mixes is blend roots reggae, dub, dancehall, dubstep, and electronic beat music into a 21st century concoction. They aren’t concerned so much with preserving anything as they are with experimenting with things, always making sure that the beat is there and full of bass and danceable. The results are definitely interesting, if not necessarily for everyone.
