In this fourth and final recording for Combo Records,
Gilberto Santa Rosa keeps up with the times in his weakest production to date, where the creamy lyrics supersede arrangements that are lethargic, to say the least. Unlike the majority of the erotic salsa acts, the lyrics were romantic, gentlemanly, and courtly; it also seems that the musical quality was compromised to favor the content that an audience preferred to hear. Nevertheless,
Santa Rosa would fare much better with
Punto de Vista (1990).
Alex d'Castro has a nice turn in "Solo una Canción," showing great potential for the solo career he would eventually follow. ~ José A. Estévez, Jr.
