In his second effort for Sony Discos,
Victor Manuelle is still looking for a musical stamp to match his skills as an improvisational artist; the material is competent enough, but doesn't bring any particular novelty. It would take one more CD (
Victor Manuelle in 1996) to develop his loyal following. In any case, there are some good moments: the title tune, "Voy a Prometerme" (composed by the singer), and "Por Ejemplo" (by Pedro Azael) are reminders of his days with his former bandleader, the underrated
Don Perignon. In any case, this is a noble work of the future superstar, who during this time was in the development stages of his career. ~ José A. Estévez, Jr.
