Sorrythankyou by Unbelievable Truth - Uhune

Unbelievable Truth's Sorrythankyou was an expansion on Almost Here's sad soft rock themes, but while it was easy to forgive the band's debut for its indifferent approach and the shameless anti-selling of Andy Yorke's roots due to a tangible respect for song, what new steps the follow-up made were practically sideways. From the Moody Blues-mirroring "A Name" to accidentally dire semi-rockouts like "Agony" or "Pedestrian," you get the sense that the Unbelievable Truth wanted desperately to fit into the excessive appeal of Coldplay and Puressence, but too often got preoccupied with living up to the soaring adjectives the band's followers frequently used on them. Not pop enough for Travis fans, not willfully weird enough for Radiohead's, Sorrythankyou was reasonable and traditional and spectacularly unhurried, yet all the more underwhelming for it. ~ Dean Carlson
