Leona Lewis, winnaar van de derde X Factor, speelt graag mee met het spel van de belangrijke labels en zingt alles wat ze haar geven. Ze heeft nog nooit geklaagd als ze een nummer moet zingen met eenR&B-feel, omdat aantrekkelijker is voor de Amerikaanse markt. Deze liedjes vallen iets meer op dan de rest van Spirit, maar de stem van Lewis valt nooit in het niet, want de bedoeling van Spirit is om haar zang te laten horen. Anders dan bij de meeste diva's, heeft haar stem een menselijke kwaliteit, omdat ze haar stem vormt naar het lied en niet het lied aanpast aan haar stem. Dit doet denken aan Mariah Carey op haar debuutalbum in 1990, waar Spirit veel van weg heeft voor wat betreft het aantal R&B nummers dat een anderszins middelmatig popalbum camoufleert.
