Rose Moore, who is also known in the Native American music community as Cherokee Rose, trusts her own voice and sings from her soul on this debut recording for the OmTown recording label titled
Spirit of Silence. The songs, written and recorded in the aftermath of several tragedies (including the death of her mother and those of September 11, 2001), reveal many Native American musical traditions as well as marrying them with subtle electronics and dance music instincts. "Oh Spirit Tree" is a benediction that honors the wisdom handed down through generations from the elders, while "Why/E Si Do Maya E Si" is a spirit song honoring the innocent lives lost as a result of the September 11, 2001, attacks.
Rose Moore has a sweet, delicate voice that soothes and sparkles at the same time. When coupled with the serene timbre of wind chimes and other new age and relaxation instrumentation, she beautifully captures the spiritual essence of the lyrics and melodies through subtle tones and vocal shadings.
Spirit of Silence should widen her audience by building upon her Pure Moods, Vol. 2 and platinum-selling
Sacred Spirit series endeavors with Claus Zundel (aka the Brave). ~ Paula Edelstein
