Gypsy Baron runs 40 minutes longer than any other, owing to conductor Harnoncourt's having gone back to the original score and restored a lot of music normally excised, also putting certain parts of the opera back in their originally intended order. This is also the most serious and least cheerful version of the work, attributes that overwhelm some good singing and playing, and make it too much
