The Tabaluga series was started back in 1983 when German rock musician
Peter Maffay conceived a "rock fairy tale" about a little green dragon together with children's song performer
Rolf Zuckowski and lyricist
Gregor Rottschalk and recorded the concept album
Tabaluga Oder die Reise Zur Vernunft. Sequels to this album followed in 1986, 1993, and 2002, as did several musicals, books, animated TV series, and live concert DVDs. Five years after the 2007 Christmas spinoff album
Frohe Weihnachten mit Tabaluga,
Maffay released the fifth and final chapter in his series:
Tabaluga und die Zeichen der Zeit, whose narration, music, and songs tell a "carpe diem" type of story. The premium edition adds a DVD with a 25-minute making-of feature, a 40-minute interview with
Maffay, and the music video for "Die Zeit Hält Nur in Träumen An" (a duet with ex-
Monrose singer
Mandy Capristo), plus a second CD that features all the songs from the first CD without the narration.
