Even just a few songs into this debut full-length, it's easy to see where
Forever Is Forgotten's influences lie. Relying on odd time signatures and sudden changes in song structure, this Milwaukee act is reminiscent of
Dillinger Escape Plan in many aspects, although with a harder, death metal edge more akin to
Zao or
Cryptopsy. The vocal work seems somewhat sloppy, as it's spewed forth rapidly and without much inflection. The changes and diversity of the metal sound on
The Architecture Is Still Burning are great to hear and will no doubt help them in the future. Too much of this sound, however, has been done before, and although the bandmembers display a good sense of creativity, they will surely need to branch out even further on future albums if they wish their name to be known. ~ Kurt Morris
