This two-LP set is a fine sampling of vibraphonist
Milt Jackson's recordings for the Atlantic label, drawing its 14 selections from ten separate albums. Obviously not for completists, the two-fer has some material that has not been reissued on CD yet. Highlights include "Plenty, Plenty Soul," "Stuffy," "Three Little Words" and "How Long, How Long Blues" and there are notable appearances by the likes of
Cannonball Adderley, Ray Charles (on alto),
Coleman Hawkins and
John Coltrane among others. ~ Scott Yanow
