The Beginning by The Black Eyed Peas - Uhune

Alhoewel eerste single The Time een prominente mijlpaal uit de jaren 80 samplet, is The Beginning geen nostalgietrip. Met een Slick Rick of Chic sample hier, en daar een verwijzing naar “Mr. Roboto” (plus emmers vol hi-res synthesizers die de producties aandrijven), roept verder niets direct de jaren 80 op. Net als de vorige twee albums van de Peas, is het sterk afhankelijk van de nachtclubmeezingers en will.i.am zijn old-school raps, naast ge-Auto-Tunede harmonies en synthesizergolven. De superhit “I Gotta Feeling” uit 2009 werpt toch nog steeds een schaduw op dit feestalbum met zijn clublifestyle-nummers. Het begint met de pompende eerste single, “The Time (Dirty Bit),” die gebouwd is rondom het Dirty Dancing nummer “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life,” van Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes. Andere hoogtepunten zijn “The Best One Yet (The Boy)” en Don’t Stop the Party.”
