It may be more expensive than
Wet Willie's Greatest Hits, but
The Best of Wet Willie runs circles around the earlier compilation, and it's worth the extra six bucks. Running well over an hour and comprising many of their strongest studio cuts (plus an 11-minute live version of "Lucy Was in Trouble"), this is a good-time rock album par excellence, with liberal dollops of soul, blues, boogie, and country thrown in. The notes are slightly soft in the information side, but other than that one reservation, this disc and the live Drippin' Wet are the two discs by this band that belong in any serious collection of modern Southern rock. ~ Bruce Eder
