Muddy Waters tracks from his peak 1950s Chess years (there are also a couple of sides from the late '60s and early '70s) makes a nice and very affordable introduction to this seminal blues artist. It isn’t a perfect collection -- it lacks “Mannish Boy,” for instance, and the versions of “Hoochie Coochie Man” and “Got My Mojo Working” included here are later live versions rather than the original studio ones -- but for the cost, it’s hard to beat. ~ Steve Leggett
