Hot on the heels of their 2021 mini-album No Limit, South Korean boy group Monsta X returned in full force in December, issuing their sophomore English-language studio album The Dreaming, alongside their first full-length film of the same name. The former sees the group shift away from the more anthemic direction of their major hits ("Love Killa," "Gambler") to an airier, more vocally driven set of songs: strummed-funk tracks like "Tied to Your Body" and "Blow Your Mind" pull heavily from Justin Timberlake's early-2000s run, while others like "About Last Night" and "Better" slide toward the nostalgic disco yearnings expressed by their 2010s contemporaries. The latter, the group's first full-length film, compiles live renditions of iconic hits with backstage footage and one-on-one interviews. It is a comprehensive look at the group behind-the-scenes, giving the band's fans an in-depth look at their journey over the last six years.
