The Fog Show is primarily a vehicle for
Alison Faith Levy's powerful vocals and piano work; as per the rules of the album, only one other instrument is allowed to join in on each track, resulting in an uniformly moody and spare ambience. While steeped in pop structures, the minimalist performances occasionally suggest the blues and even the torch ballad tradition, matching well with the melancholy and contemplative nature of
Levy's songs -- tracks like "Slow Fade" and "Sunday Night Lonesome" are thoroughly evocative of their titles. ~ Jason Ankeny
