The
Rondelles blast through punk-pop numbers like
Joan Jett's indie rock little sister. Their second full-length release for Teen Beat records, The Fox, is a testament to the influence of female-fronted new wave bands from
Blondie through
the Breeders, and like high school rockers
the Donnas they crunch through each song with carefully controlled abandon.
Rondelles have crafted a very specific sound that they stick to almost religiously and the album doesn't branch out much from start to finish, but fans of this genre won't mind a bit. The songs blast by quickly, but burners like the halting "Tuesday Rock City" and the gritty "Boy I Know" stand out as brash reminders that grrls rock! ~ Zac Johnson
