As hinted at in its title, this 1998 CD has the last collaboration by clarinetist
Kenny Davern and pianist
Art Hodes. They are joined by British drummer Colin Bowden for a frequently jubilant set comprised of a dozen trad jazz standards. Although the material might be quite familiar (including such songs as "There'll Be Some Changes Made," "Exactly Like You," "After You've Gone," and "All of Me"), the high-quality solos and the interplay between the musicians makes this a date that Dixieland and mainstream jazz fans will want. Released for the first time on this English CD, the set finds all of the participants in prime form, including Hodes, who at 82 still had five more years of music ahead of him.
