Las Vegas-based post-hardcore band
Survive This! worked tirelessly for months on debut album
The Life You've Chosen, recording demos for more than 20 songs before whittling the track list down to the 11 that made the final cut. The band worked with producer
Ronnie Radke from like-minded band
Falling in Reverse on the album, which incorporates unexpected pop hooks and electronic elements into the band's soul-baring confessional emo/post-hardcore sound. Tracks like "Coming Clean Takes Heart" and "The Seed" switch styles at the drop of a hat, offering up angry growling vocals and metal breakdowns one moment and string samples or dubstep-influenced electronic production the next. Extremely personal lyrics deal with estranged family relationships, tarnished romance, and, on the empowering title track, fighting through conformity and societal pressures to find an individual voice.
