COMPILATION

The World of Scotland is a 26-track collection from the Decca label featuring a variety of different representations of Scottish music. Amid the pipe and drum recordings are several lovely classical tunes featuring sweet-voiced tenors, accordion show bands, fiddle music, and poignant folk songs. The recordings span many decades and the arrangements are generally quite polished. This is not a rough-hewn collection of traditional folk, but more of a late 20th century tribute to old Scotland from the era of professional recording. ~ Timothy Monger
