In sharp distinction to a lot of his neo-soul contemporaries, Shaw genuinely channels the spirit of Sam Cooke, Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, and other Stax and Motown legends, without the gloss of urban contemporary beats and production compromising the vibe.
