Code Indigo founder, vocalist, and keyboard player David Wright is joined on this 2003 release by singer Louise Eggerton, guitarist Andy Lobhan, keyboardist Andy Fox, and programmer Dave Massey. A purveyor of dreamy, slow-moving electronica, Code Indigo incorporates rich synth washes, subtle pulses and rhythms, melodic fragments, and evocative, wordless vocals into a seamless blend that could easily serve as a soundtrack to a visit from Morpheus.
The keyboards in the foreground create layers of vibrating, orchestral sound, while Lobhan's effects-drenched guitar adds color and nuance to the overall sound. Eggerton's singing displays a range of influences, from vague, Middle Eastern prayer-call motifs on "Zero Hour," to ethereal, Enya-like vocalizations on "Stasis." She brings to the music an element that is familiar and human, yet also contributes to its otherworldliness. TIMECODE is a suitable choice for pre-sleep music, or for accompanying dreaming once asleep.
