When
the Farewell Drifters formed, the idea was to graft bluegrass instrumentation and energy to
Beach Boys-styled studio pop, or at least aim in that direction, and with
Tomorrow Forever, which adds drums and electric guitar to the band's basic bluegrass instrumentation, they have definitely moved closer to that cross-pollination. Produced by
Neilson Hubbard, this album, the band's first for Compass Records, will appeal to fans of neo-folk-rock groups like
Fleet Foxes,
Mumford & Sons, and
the Avett Brothers. ~ Steve Leggett
