There is simply nothing fancy about
Witchmaster's 2009 offering,
Trðcizna. It's one of those "what you see if what you get" type releases (or perhaps more fittingly, "what you hear is what you get"), and in the case of this veteran Polish band, vintage, old-school thrash/death metal reigns supreme. Despite being released on the eve of the second decade of the millennium, the music contained on
Trðcizna could have easily been penned/recorded in the mid- to late ‘80s, when thrash/death metal was at its creative zenith. Get ready for a non-stop headbanging assault from beginning to end here, especially on such rotten-to-the-core ditties as the album-opening title track, "Total Annihilation," and "Black Scum." You can't teach an old dog new tricks, and the lads in
Witchmaster stick to their guns throughout
Trðcizna. ~ Greg Prato
