Twinkie Clark is often credited, along with her mother, the late
Dr. Mattie Moss Clark, with shaping the sound of one of the gospel music idiom's most revered and emulated female groups,
the Clark Sisters. This project, recording live in Charlotte, NC, at the University Park Baptist Church, finds
Clark in good vocal form. This can be witnessed in the opening track, the upbeat "Jesus Saves."
Clark comes out holding nothing back, as she is ably assisted by the voices of Patrick Love and the Spirit of David Choir.
Clark and her talented sisters Jacky,
Karen, and
Dorinda reunite on covers of
the Clark Sisters standards "Endow Me" and "Pray for the U.S.A." This project also finds
Clark paying homage to the music of her mother through the classics "It Won't Be Long" and "Christ Is Coming Back Again." The latter features a once in a lifetime vocal performance from sister
Karen, while
Twinkie slides over to the Hammond B-3, displaying why she has long been noted as one of the industry's top organists. This is a wonderful recording. ~ Tim A. Smith
