This obscure LP was Jessica Williams' only recording as a leader during the 1980-1985 period. Williams was already becoming distinctive during the time and she holds her own with the great tenor saxophonist Eddie Harris on this excellent quartet set (which also includes bassist John Wiitala and drummer Dave Tucker). Together they perform selections by Sonny Rollins ("Cutie"), Yusef Lateef, Thelonious Monk ("Ruby, My Dear") and six by Williams including dedications to Rollins ("On Sonny's Side"), Mary Lou Williams, Harris ("Ready for Eddie") and John Coltrane's appetite ("Sweet Potato Pie"). This worthy album will unfortunately be difficult to locate.
