Na het succes van het debuutalbum Definitely Maybe komt Oasis in 1995 met de opvolger (What's the Story) Morning Glory?. De band, die inmiddels een van de belangrijkste groepen van de Britpop is geworden, zet op deze tweede plaat in op een meer ingetogen geluid, zoals op de hitsingle "Wonderwall" te horen is. De gitaar speelt nog steeds een grote rol, maar ook strijkers en toetsen worden ditmaal met regelmaat ingezet. Dat het album nog steeds van grote invloed is op de Britse popmuziek blijkt wel als de plaat in 2019 opnieuw in de Britse charts terecht komt.
