The U.K. indie band Stump's former bassist Kev Hopper combines his talents for sampling and musical saw playing on this intriguing, melodic set of varied electronic sounds overlaid with a variety of instrumentation, including marimba and assorted percussion. Some of the cuts, notably "Waiting for Baby" and "Starfields," have a Javanese gamelan feel, while others, such as "Lamalou Les Bains," exude a sultry, after-hours Brazilian ambience reminiscent of the High Llamas, a couple of whose members make musical contributions here.
