All Is Well is something of a masterpiece for fuzzy, lo-fi bedroom pop --
the Spiny Anteaters have a warm and subtle approach to presentation and a songwriting style that meshes perfectly with the idiosyncracies of their recording technique, giving
All Is Well an occasional sense of near-perfection. There's also a simplistic purity to the record which is absent from the releases which followed it --
Current sounds a bit more like a rock band, and
Last Supper dips its feet in the waters of experimentalism, both with excellent results -- but the drifting tones and half-realized melodies of
All Is Well seem to have accomplished something almost definitive for this vein of indie rock. ~ Nitsuh Abebe
