As the younger brother of
Radiohead's enigmatic leader, Andy Yorke was bound to gain attention as the frontman of the
Unbelievable Truth. However, the group's debut album,
Almost Here, may have earned attention in its own right, if released without any hype.
Almost Here is an alluringly moody record, similar to the epic soundscapes of the Verve or
Radiohead, only with a bit of a country-rock underpinning. Yorke's lyrics can seem adolescent and the Unbelievable Truth's ambition often outweighs their accomplishments, but the promise they flaunt on their debut proves that they are almost there. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
