Amusia stands as one of the more "rocking" releases from
Elliott Sharp and Carbon; the album takes a certain degree of influence from electronic beats and wailing guitar, and moves the band's signature combinations of
Zeena Parkins' electric harp and
Sharp's unique guitar approach into territories that could almost appeal to one or two exceptionally open-minded metalheads. Of course, Truthtable is the real pinnacle of Carbon's grinding rock side, but aside from the lack of vocal work,
Amusia visits some of the same territory. ~ Nitsuh Abebe
