According to the liner notes, Argentinean drummer and pianist Norberto Michillo has been delighting his fans for decades. He brings a unique blend to his world of jazz, one that incorporates a different perspective than usually heard in the States. His most interesting contributions come from the piano, on which he plays only a few tracks. His sparse, somewhat disjointed
Monkish approach, touched by ragtime, is eerily attractive. His drumming is also interesting - filled with Latin rhythms, while his flights on marimba are enticing. There is a certain melancholy to some of the tunes that draws the listener into his world. This is at heart a light, relaxing session, but one that should be enjoyed for its special sounds and approach. A plurality of the tracks feature Minchillo on drums with
Pablo Bobrowicky on guitar and Guillermo Delgado on bass. ~ Steve Loewy
