Jameson Rodgers earned his stripes writing songs for
Florida Georgia Line,
Chris Lane,
Jason Aldean, and
Luke Combs, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that his debut,
Bet You're from a Small Town, aims squarely at the center of the country charts circa 2021. As a performer,
Rodgers doesn't have a specialty, preferring to dabble in ballads, drinking songs, and pop tunes with an electronic patina.
Rodgers doesn't sound eclectic, he sounds well divested, making sure that his music could slide onto country radio or a variety of mood-based playlists. The craft is sturdy enough but the calculation gets a little numbing, especially over the course of a long 15 tracks. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
